About your cat’s hosts

Auntie Becky

Becky is a librarian, lawyer, former foster parent with DC’s Child and Family Services Agency, current foster human with the Humane Rescue Alliance, and the founder and executive director of JusticeAccess, which is a nonprofit law library focused on the legal information needs of nonlawyers. Becky can administer oral meds, eye meds, transdermal meds, and sub-q fluids.

Becky grew up with a “twin brother” named Cat and can’t imagine life without her kittelach, Skates and Shadow, who she adopted in 2014.

Skates

Skates is the friendliest cat you’ll ever meet. He is a favorite at all of his vets’ offices (he has two specialists along with his primary care vet). He’s great with visitors, both humane and feline. He might take a day to get comfortable with a new kitty friend, but once he does, your cat can count on some good grooming sessions from Skates.

Skates is the reason why your cat will have his or her own dining room. He will happily eat anything you put in front of him (his favorite vegetables to steal are broccoli and mushrooms), but he has a sensitive tummy and has to stick with his prescription diet.

Skates’ birthdate was estimated by the shelter as March 2012.

Shadow

If one of the cats had to have chronic health conditions, it’s a good thing it was Skates, and not Shadow. Shadow does not like new people. At all. He’s great with new cats, though, so you don’t need to worry about him, even though you’ll never meet him.

Shadow is a great big brother to Skates; whenever Skates has a coughing attack, Shadow runs to give him comfort licks.

Shadow is about six months older than Skates.
